Born and raised in Carlsbad, California, I attended college at California
State University San Marcos. I was in 7th grade when I realized I wanted
to write and 11th grade when I realized it was teaching writing that would
allow me to write and open others’ eyes to the construction and
creation of a unique world view. Working with students in the AVID program
showed me a variety of methods and techniques to work with the different
demands writing imposes on young people. It was my trip to Cuernavaca,
Mexico that brought to life the ultimate experience in language, traveling,
and learning because it forced me to speak and write in a different language,
one that I love. Currently I teach college preparatory English to 9-12
grade students at Julian Charter School’s San Diego Academy. I have
taught kindergarten through 12th grade and love it all. I look forward
to working with you and sharing stories that will bring us further into
each other’s webs of writing.
