Veterans Affairs Coordinator
The College of Extended Studies Veterans Affairs Coordinator (VAC) manages the daily operations, services, advisement, and administrative needs of veterans as well as other members of the military community who are interested in registering for credit and non-credit courses/programs through the College of Extended Studies. The VAC advises and oversees the needs of the select group of non-matriculated College of Extended Studies students to enable them to meet their educational or training goals in courses and programs approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for education benefits.

The VAC manages the daily operations of the CES Veterans Affairs Office, evaluating and responding to inquiries, marketing the availability of approved VA programs for veterans and other military community students, seeking program approvals through the VA.  The VAC serves as an advocate, advisor, and ombudsperson, as appropriate, troubleshooting administrative challenges on behalf of veterans and other military community students enrolled in CES programs.

Critical Duties of the VAC Include
Coordinate with the Department of Veterans Affairs regarding existing, updated, and new credit and non-credit programs, certificates, and courses to maintain/achieve approval for VA educational benefits.

Obtain Veterans Administration approval for CES course, program, credit and non-credit, certificate and degree training for educational benefits.

Complete intake and major change processing for all CES VA students in approved VA programs, certificates, and courses approved through the VA for educational benefits.

Assist CES veterans who, under the guidelines of SDSU's "Policy for Military Called to Compulsory Service,” are called to active duty. This includes but is not limited to leave of absence, refund of fees, financial aid issues, etc.

Serve as contact/liaison for general public, students and campus community for all CES VA-related questions and processes. Also manage daily inquiries via office walk-ins, web, email, fax, phone, etc.

Act as liaison and advocate between VA and CES VA students, resolving issues and concerns including those regarding payment and overpayment.
